Space Invaders - How Cool

This Game really started a revolution in the Arcades. Really Fun..

This one was released all the way back in 1978! Talk about an old school game. Originally it was made by a company in japan (like most cool games) named Taito. They made over $500 million bucks from this one, which is far better then they could have ever imagined. At least I think so. The point of space invaders is to defeat aliens with a laser cannon and collect points. Its been reported that the designer was inspired by movies like Star Wars when developing.

It was truly a forerunner of the gaming world, and it was immediately popular after its release. Did you know that soon after it hit the arcades, it actually caused this crazy shortage of yen coins in Japan. This is because they were all being pumped into the machines. Its known in the guinness world records as being the highest selling arcade game ever released.

Of course like all successful things, it was copied and redesigned by many different companies. This always happens. There are many references to this chilled out game on movies and television shows. See that alien image above? That has become an icon for the culture. You know what? I miss the 80's...
